산업현장에서 사용하는 생활용수 및 공업용수를 사용하기 위하여 수환경 시스템을 이해하는데 주요 내용을 이해하도록 한다. 수처리를 위한 정수처리, 고도정수처리기술, 상수사용 용도에 따른 상수원 관리와 사용자의 수요에 적합한 수질을 확보하기 위한 기본 이론과 상수의 중요성을 인식하기 위한 과제 등을 수행한다. 산업현장에서 사용한 폐수를 처리하기 위한 전반적인 공정, 물리적 처리, 물리화학적 원리와 특성을 파악하여 처리 목표에 이르는 방법과 하수 또는 산업폐수 처리에 있어서 생물학적 처리공정에 대한 이해와 각 반응모델에 대한 처리기술 및 반응모델에 따른 처리효율을 이해하는 과목이다.

Covers principles of water treatment for municipal and industrial purpose to understand design, and control of pollutive chemicals from environment, waste treatment and reactions. Topics include chemical, physical principles, reaction kinetics, mineral precipitation and dissolution, and electrochemistry. Focuses on the theoretical description of chemical reactions relevant to engineered processes and natural systems, and the applicable solution of these problems.
